Life happens only in the present moment. We learn from our yesterdays to make plans for our tomorrows, but we can only act in the present moment. Your reality is NOW. It is what it is. So if you are not enjoying this present moment, relax…a new moment is only a second away! Moment to moment, everything changes. The Buddha told us that the universe is in a constant state of change, with all things coming to be, and then fading into something else.
So, if you are not satisfied with this present moment, use your next moment of awareness to set your desired intention. Bless it, and expect it to BE.
Meditation practice offers us the opportunity to be aware of each moment, and to set intentions for ourselves on all levels of Mind, Body and Spirit. Take this moment, and breathe. Ground yourself in the here and the now. Find awareness in breath and body.
Wherever you are is where the action is. This new year…make a commitment to be open and curious in response to your present moment actions. When your attention drifts, or you are not enjoying a moment, gently bring yourself back to what it is that you are doing.
Try using one word to re-gain your awareness such as, “eating,” “working,” “feeling tired.” You will notice that within the next few moments, your activity and feelings will change. Your world is always in motion!
Acknowledging each present moment affords you with the opportunity to make a choice: accept the moment, change it, or set a new intention. No matter what…bless the moment. It is a gift that brings you the best life you can imagine for yourself.
